Ever wondered what an Elton John song would sound like as a rolling, laid back reggae jam? Wonder no more because Gold Fang has produced the goods - and it slaps so hard.

The Trinidadian-born, Sydney-based singer swung into the Like A Version studio with his effortless aura of cool to tackle The Rocket Man's 1983 hit, 'I'm Still Standing'.

"I've always been a fan of Elton John," Gold Fang said.

"He's in my top five music writers of all time. I think he's an amazing writer and I got the opportunity to do Like A Version and I was just like 'I want to do something different and make it my own, or do something that's never been done before', so."

While it's not really a Gold Fang track - Elton's upbeat energy lifting the darker chords of the original - he was able to make it his own by moulding it to the classic offbeat rhythms of reggae.

"I sprinkle my flavour on everything," Gold Fang said.

It may have taken a full rewrite to make one of his top five fave artists his own, but Gold Fang sunk those teeth into this classic bright pop-rock hit and given it his Midas bite.
