Behind Angus & Julia Stone's cover of Lewis Capaldi 'Someone You Loved' for Like A Version

How do you build on an already-emotional track? Bring some soft guitars, swelling strings and and harmonies that are smooth as silk.

And that's exactly what Angus & Julia Stone did with Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved' for their latest entry into the Like A Version archives.

"We just started just the two of us singing with guitar - that finger-picking part that I'm playing through the song," Julia said.

"We straight away went into singing harmonies, finding the right key was tricky but once we found it, it was good for both of us to sing in harmony like that."

Though the sibling duo don't hit notes as high or with as much "belt voice" as the Scottish singer, they held onto the emotional gut-punch that the original has. And the strings just hammered that feeling home -even for Julia.

"We actually hadn't heard the strings until today," she said.

"So the first time we heard it was when we were recording it for Like A Version. I actually said to the string players [that] when we started playing I had this welling up of 'I think I'm going to start crying' because strings are so manipulative.

"They make you feel emotional so easily and so I had to kind of repress and bottle my emotions."
